The 2022 Ford Explorer Performance Features
The new Ford Explorer here at Arceneaux Ford in New Iberia, LA has been completely redesigned for the 2022 model year. It’s now built on a rear-wheel drive platform and features an all-new exterior design. The interior has also been completely redone and packed with new technology features. Under the hood, three different engine options are available, including a turbocharged V6.
The base engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that produces 365 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is standard on the Ford Explorer Platinum trim level.
The next step is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s also paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is available on the Ford Explorer Limited, ST, and Hybrid trim levels.
The final engine option is a 3.3-liter naturally aspirated V6 that produces 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. It comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine is standard on the Ford Explorer XLT, Sport, and Base trim levels.
All three engines are available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
