Have You Tested Your Car Battery Lately?

Car batteries usually last for three to five years. If your car is exposed to extreme heat or cold, it may not last as long. Regularly checking your battery's voltage could help you to avoid the unexpected surprise of a dead battery.

Checking your car battery only takes a few minutes. Open the hood. Use a voltmeter and attach the black probe to the negative terminal and the red probe to the battery's positive terminal. Set the voltage to low. If the reading is less than 12.6, you need a new battery.

At our service center in Arceneaux Ford, we offer free battery testing. If your battery has a low voltage level, we have a full range of replacement batteries for all types of vehicles. We can also check your battery's connections and the alternator for their performance.
